The Bride

Hello you lovelies there reading our wedding website!

For those of you who don’t know me, here’s a little bit about me, so you can know me better. I’m a New Yawkuh. Actually, I’m not from New York City; I’m from a town of about 2,000 people (does that qualify as a town? Is it more of a hamlet?) in upstate New York. Old Chatham is beautiful. I live surrounded by trees and bugs. Hopefully at our wedding time, the bugs will still be in winter hibernation and we won’t have to hand out fly swatters as favors. Most of my family lives quite near here - all four of my parents (that’s right, four - you figure it out) and my brother and his beautiful, mostly-new wife. My sister and her family (a coupla’ really cute kids) live 14 hours away by car. They speak Southern, so I’m not sure what they’ve said to me for the past five years or so.

For university, I went a whopping hour away to Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont. It’s one of those artsy, weirdo, alternative schools. I loved it! I graduated in 2003 with a Liberal Arts Bachelor’s degree. I don’t think it means much, actually. I studied literature and journalism/writing… except for the year I did mostly sculpture… and there was that semester where I did a whole lot of music classes… a little bit of dance. Well, I’m a more well-rounded person now, I can say that much. A little-known fact about Bennington College (or is it only rumor?): It is officially clothing optional, except for in the dining hall. (Well, wearing clothing was never enforced while I was there, so I have to believe it’s not mere urban legend.)

Writing and sculpture and music and dance - all the arts, really - are great loves of mine, but my true passion is Jesus Christ. I guess I wouldn’t bother to get out of bed if I didn’t know Jesus (sorry for all of you who don’t - if you want to meet him just come talk to me and I’ll introduce you). I have spent the last two years in strict pursuit of God and everything he has for me. I want to know him - not just what he does - really know him and all his character. I love to make his heart known and speak his truths into the lives of others and then watch those lives change. There’s just nothing like God touch the heart of another person. What a privilege. I spent the last year working with a church in Canada and being mentored by the pastors there. There’s so much more I could say about that, but as you’ve already guessed, I didn’t stick to quite as strict a pursuit as I made it sound.

Somewhere in the past two years (thank you School of Marriage) I met Flo and oh my gosh. Well you can read our story on another page, but let me tell you, he’s nearly perfect! He knows how to peel all the gross, white stuff off an orange for me and he taught me how to drink beer and he never laughs at me when I drool while napping… ah. Love, true love. I think it suits me.

Interesting Trivia That Will Help You Keep Up Conversation With Me:
I am a Mac lover, through and through.
I have never eaten a bug.
I like CSI a lot - Las Vegas is my favorite.
I would never want to work as a CSI.
The best vacation so far was Christmas in Mexico with a lovely family who spoke no English - everything went wrong and I lost a car for it, but I loved it.
I speak no Spanish. (That’s not true. I know how to say ‘No Espanol. No Fruta. & No Fumar.’)
There’s nothing like the smell of motorcycle race fuel and a bunch of guys dressed up in leather suits to get your blood pumping. Bring me a Ducati!
One Hundred Years of Solitude, by Gabriel García Márquez, is the second-best book ever written - but it only trails the Bible by a little bit.
